Long long summer

I haven't posted a lot on my blog for a while, kind of forgot about it and had a lot going on. But I'm happy to have remembered it, it has become a great tool to get my mind off my never ending pregnancy.
August was a very long month for me-everything was great and going fast till August hit. The reason is I thought my original due date was August 6th, well today's date is Sept 6th! Yes 1 month later I am still pregnant and starting to lose it. Needless to say I got my dates very wrong, the problem is I don't really know what my actual due date is, and since I'm not into hospital births or medical intervention unless totally necessary, I wait, and wait.
So this blog has been a great thing to get my mind off what isn't happening and all the questions I get asked every time I see someone I know (I am a hermit these days and can't wait to no longer be one) So I will be doing a lot more blogging and putting up some of the projects I've completed and cool things I have found.
You can also see my Pinterest board that have a lot more of my favorite things as well.

I think I will also blog more about things that are happening in our life-so I will but things up about the new baby to be.

Until the baby comes this is where u can find me :)

DS lite fix

We have had a problem for a while with our DS lite and accessories. The games were getting lost and we didn't have a good place to store any of it. My husband came up with this good and cheap fix.
Just using a over the door show holder we were able to organize all the DS lives and accessories. Plus now I keep it in my office so that I can better control who has the DS and make sure the games get put back in the right spot.

Lego Books

Another idea I took (can't remember where)
My son has a lot of lego books that were slowly getting lost and destroyed. This is a great way to keep them in one spot and from getting ripped on the floor.

I added reinforcement labels to the holes so that they keep from tearing a little longer.

I decided to do the light bright papers like this as well.

Then I stuck them on a 3M hook on his lego building table so he has them right were he needs them.

Custom Menu Board

So I am terrible at putting a family menu together for the week and then going grocery shopping. I usually don't really know what I should make that week and when I do actually shop for groceries I end up buying random stuff and then I never know whats for dinner each day and then just do some last minuet thing. So It's been a big problem for a while.
I found this and thought it was a brilliant idea I could actually do.
Since it was not something I could just buy I made one up and did a few things differently.

  • I picked out a few scrapbooking papers that went well together.
  • Got some cute snowflake stickers to match and accent with (My kitchen is blue with s snowflake theme)
  • Made a template with our favorite side and main dishes that I could coordinate-you might want to do some blank ones to write in as you try new things, also I did a leftovers one and a take out one and breakfast.
  • Picked up some ModPodge
  • Got a pre-cut sheet of steel at Lowes (in the nuts and bolts isle) mine is 8x18. I didn't clean or smooth the edges at all
  • Got some cheap magnets, and cut decorative magnets, and 1 clip magnet, and 4 heavy duty rectangle magnets at loses (next to the metal sheet)
  • Got some metal bottle caps in the jewelry making section at Joanns
  • Found small cute envelops at Michael's
Pretty easy, just ModPodge all my backgrounds on, and also the envelopes at the bottom.
I didn't glue the plain magnets onto the bottle caps-they stick by themselves. Put a 3x5 card on the shopping list clip and them stuck the heavy duty magnets onto the back and then the fridge-and it's done.
BTW it have been working great, and the kids love to help pick out the meals we will be having for the week.
